Storage Tips

DO NOT STORE FOOD!! We do not recommend storing food of any kind for any amount of time. Stored food can cause a number of problems associated with temperature, moisture, climate, and other conditions that may be constantly changing.  Food will attract rodents and other bug infestations in your unit! Damage may occur, and these damages may spread to neighboring units around you. Patriot Storage LLC will do it's best to control any nuisances, but if it is determined that your unit/food caused an infestation of any kind you will be billed for all necessary cleanup and pest control! Upon renting with us...please give your food away to family, friends or neighbors. Or, kindly donate it to your local food pantry. No exceptions.

Pack and Stack carefully. Place items in boxes, and try to handle everything with extreme care. You are paying money to store your items so take the time to do it right. Place heavy items on the floor, and lighter items on top of them. Take care to cover your items with blankets, or tarps as needed and consider placing items on pallets. Dust and snow may blow into your unit from time to time, and this will keep your items clean when you are ready to retrieve them at a later date. Organizing your items is crucial especially if you are going to be visiting the unit frequently.

Find ways to save space. Tuck items inside of something else in order to fit more in the space. Place smaller items inside of dresser drawers, conveniently hide things inside of a washer or dryer, or place boxes inside the trunk of a car that is being stored, etc.

Keep a good inventory of what you are storing. Know what is in your unit at all times. This will help make moving in and moving out a lot easier. This also helps in the unfortunate event of theft, vandalism, fire, or thunderstorm. Taking pictures of stored items is certainly a good idea.

Insure your items if needed. If you are storing expensive items, it is a good idea to contact your insurance company. They may be able to offer you special or temporary insurance to cover your items while being stored in a unit. Patriot Storage LLC does not offer unit insurance on anything stored in/on the premises.

Use a good lock. A better lock will keep your items safer. Make sure it is actually locked when leaving by giving it a tug before you leave. Make sure you know where your keys are, and make sure you know who may have access to your keys at all times. Patriot Storage LLC is not in charge of or liable for anyone that may enter your locked unit with or without authorization.

Be Safe. When entering the facility, make sure you have enough room to maneuver vehicles, trailers, or large moving trucks around the buildings and other people that may be at the site. Before backing any item, vehicle or trailer into a unit or stall get out and make sure it is going to fit. Measure a door frame before you attempt to back thru it. This also includes the height of the unit. Make sure your stuff will clear the overhead of the door as well. No unit modifications of any kind are permitted.

Watch out for snow. Be safe when entering the site if conditions are slick. Patriot Storage LLC will make every attempt to keep the site clear of snow, but it is a good idea to maintain the 2' directly in front of your unit.

If you see something odd or suspicious REPORT IT!! This may be a quick phone call or email to management, or to the Police if necessary.
